With the speed at which God operates, He leaves no breather for His entourage, as they were all packed and ready to leave for Fiji Islands in the wee hours of April 20th, within a span of five days after returning from Europe!
For the first time, Swami decided to take along six students who are currently pursuing their professional courses, along with the Warden of the Pre University students in Muddenahalli, the ever-smiling Brother Manjrekar. Delayed flights, torrential rains, impending storms, and finally, everyone reached Suva on the evening of April 21st. Brother Sumeet Tappoo, his father Sri Mahendra Tappoo and the family welcomed Swami’s entourage at their home. The next morning, April 22 was spent adjusting to the new time zone, and in the evening, Swami met the core team members of the Sai Prema Foundation and their families. Devotees from New Zealand were also present as part of this intimate evening. It also happened to be the birthday of Sri Mahendra Tappoo, and after a few devotional songs offered to welcome the Lord in their midst in Fiji, the devotees led by Brother Sumeet Tappoo’s mellifluous voice offered the Niravana Shatakam at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet. Swami explained the meaning of the six couplets to the joy of everyone. He went on to narrate the story of Adi Shankaracharya when he composed the couplets, and advised everyone to be an ideal and fit disciple. Quoting the story of Ekalavya and Dronacharya, Swami explained that it is not only important if a disciple is fit, as the Guru should be a role model as well. After the traditional cake cutting, Mangala Arati was offered to Swami, and dinner Prasadam was served to everyone.
The morning of April 23 was set aside for a visit to the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Medical Centre for the inauguration of the Cardiac Screening Centre within the facility. Swami along with His entourage reached the Medical Centre around 10:30 a.m. and proceeded to bless the patients who were waiting to be screened. The new dedicated pediatric echocardiography machine was inaugurated, and the first case was viewed by the team of experts which comprised of Dr Ashish Katewa from India, Dr Shaun Setty from USA, Dr Ben Anderson from Australia, and Fiji’s very own first pediatric cardiac consultant Dr Maryanne Koraai who underwent training at the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital in Naya Raipur.
Swami proceeded to the Board room to speak to all the Sai Prema Foundation members, and a few guests from other countries too. After guiding everyone on the commencement of construction for the new Pediatric Cardiac Hospital, Swami returned to the Tappoo residence for lunch. Late evening, Swami blessed the residence of Brother Pratin Lal and his wife Smt Sonia and partook dinner after blessing the family profusely. Here was God in action as He sets an example every single day through His simple acts, some of which are next to impossible to replicate, as He blessed the couple to join His mission in Administration and Human Resources respectively. Swami said, “Not only do I go from continent to continent and country to country, but I also go home to home to select My team!”
April 24 – a day remembered world over as the passing of a great spiritual Guru and God, Sai Baba, but those who progressed a little further in their spiritual journey have understood that great Masters and Avatars continue to guide and guard, albeit from another realm. So rather than mourning the passing on, Swami advised couple of years ago that this day should be spent in starting a new initiative or a project for the benefit of humanity. So, this year, 2019, was in the name of the new Cardiac Screening Centre to be officially inaugurated by the Honourable Prime Minister of Fiji Mr Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama. He was received at the Medical Centre a little after 10 a.m., and along with Swami, and other dignitaries which included the Minister of Health, proceeded to the function area for the formal event proceedings. Dr Krupali Tappoo , Medical Director of the Sai Prema Foundation welcomed the gathering and updated everyone on the year gone by. Sri Mahendra Tappoo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Prime Minister and spoke about the commitment of the Sai Prema Foundation. A short emotional video was screened which showed how the Medical Centre had saved many children born with congenital heart disease, and there was not a dry eye in the room. Dr Shaun Setty thereafter presented Fiji’s first mobile medical device, the smart Stheth developed by HD Medical from California, to the Prime Minister, who addressed the gathering next. He commended the wonderful work done by the Foundation, and once again pledged his support and the support of his entire Government, and stressed that it should be the collective effort and partnership of everyone in society to work together, and help each other take healthier decisions. He expressed his happiness about the novel medical device and it’s role in saving many more children in the Island.
Swami through Brother Madhusudan delivered His divine message, and said that the world should be one global family without any discrimination whatsoever, inspired by the timeless message of ‘Love All Serve All’. He announced the plans for the new state-of-the-art Pediatric Cardiac Hospital, construction for which will soon commence. He blessed everyone and thanked the Government for the wonderful support.
Brother Sumeet expressed his deep gratitude to the Prime Minster and his government for gifting the land on which the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Medical Centre stands today. The facility has embraced over 4,000 patients absolutely free of any charges in the last one year.
All the guests along with the Prime Minster proceeded to the Medical Centre for the inauguration of the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Heart Screening Centre. After a quick meeting in the board room and a group photo call, the honourable Prime Minster departed from the venue. Swami was served lunch, and thereafter He returned to the Tappoo residence for the afternoon. Late evening, Swami met all the Foundation members and their families at the Tappoo residence giving them direction for the coming year. Dinner was served to Swami and all the guests, while the core team headed out to Pacific Harbour to put the finishing touches to the Ashram, which was eagerly waiting to be inaugurated by the Divine Master the next morning.
